Exchange Online 500 Error

Issue

User provides that when they try to access Outlook Online (OWA), the screen reloads several times. They then encounter a 500 error where Microsoft provides "Something went wrong".

Solution

Office 365 administrator can generally remediate this issue by reloading Exchange. This can be done several ways, but the below method is generally easiest.

  1. Login as administrator within Office 365.
  2. Find the effected users under User within the admin portal.
  3. Select the user, and then mail option.
  4. From within mail, select "edit exchange properties (depicted below)
  5. Within exchange properties, please disable OWA (owtlook web access). Save and wait 10 minutes prior to re-enabling the service.
  6. Check with the user to ensure they can access OWA access.
